Technical Assistance and Support to Communities of actors for the Mediterranean basin.

TASC-RestoreMed (Technical Assistance and Support to Communities of actors for the Mediterranean Basin) is a flagship initiative under the EU Mission “Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030.” Launched in September 2025 and running for four years, TASC-RestoreMed acts as a catalyst for a sustainable blue economy in the Mediterranean, combining science, innovation, and community action to restore marine and freshwater ecosystems.

The programme provides financial support, capacity building, and a dynamic collaboration network that enables communities, innovators, and policymakers to work together toward a regenerative and resilient Mediterranean.

Through its Open Call, TASC-RestoreMed will identify and support high-potential projects that receive comprehensive technical, business, and policy assistance from design to implementation, accelerating tangible change across the region.

Our Mission

To empower Mediterranean communities and innovators to restore and protect marine and freshwater ecosystems while ensuring social and economic well-being.

Our Vision

A resilient Mediterranean where thriving ecosystems and prosperous communities coexist — balancing nature’s limits with people’s needs.

Our Values
  • Collaboration: Building bridges between science, citizens, and policy.
  • Inclusivity: Ensuring every region and voice in the Mediterranean has access to opportunity.
  • Innovation: Using technology and creativity to solve systemic challenges.
  • Integrity: Upholding transparency, accountability, and impact-driven action.
  • Regeneration: Restoring ecosystems as the foundation for long-term prosperity.
A Holistic Framework

Our Approach

At its core, TASC-RestoreMed is grounded in the Blue Doughnut Framework, a marine adaptation of Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics model.

This framework unites the environmental thresholds (outer ring), protecting the health of marine ecosystems, with the social foundations (inner ring) ensuring communities thrive within those ecological limits.

By embedding this holistic model into every activity, the programme integrates environmental, social, and economic dimensions of marine restoration.

The result: a systemic, inclusive approach to sustainability that goes beyond restoration to create a resilient, equitable Mediterranean future.

Beyond Funding

TASC-RestoreMed offers more than financial grants, it creates an ecosystem of support:

Tailored technical assistance

with business and policy advisory services.

Capacity building

and mentoring for local actors and innovators.

Networking and clustering

opportunities across the Mediterranean basin.

Alignment with EU

environmental policies and Mission Ocean objectives.
